Coronavirus and your Safe Stay

The health and wellbeing of our guests, our staff and our suppliers is of paramount importance. As we are now open once more, we want to reassure all our guests that risk assessments have been undertaken and the strictest of cleaning and hygiene protocols are in place that meet and exceed government guidelines. We are committed to the charter #StaySafeStAndrews with regards to quality and standards.

Inevitably, there are adjustments as to how we work, how we interact with guests and colleagues and how we maintain the high levels of service our guests expect. All we ask of you is to understand that such changes are necessary, if on occasion somewhat inconvenient. Be assured the welcome will be warm and your peace of mind is top of our agenda.

Stay Safe

If you feel unwell or have any coronavirus symptoms before your visit or have been asked to self-isolate or quarantine - Please stay at home. We will happily reschedule your stay.

If you feel unwell after check-in, please let us know as soon as possible. If you are too unwell to drive home, we will ask you to self-isolate in your hotel room. We will contact NHS Scotland for advice on the next actions including assisting them with the Test and Trace programme.

Always wear a face mask before entering The Hotel and when moving around between Bar, Restaurant and cloakroom i.e. when not seated. We also ask that during your stay you take time to wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or, use our hand sanitiser stations.

Please do not hesitate before or during your stay to reach out to us with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Rooms and Housekeeping Protocols

Prior to checking in, guest rooms will have had a deep clean with emphasis on those high contact areas such as doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, thermostats, clothes hangers and hairdryers. Sealed bottles of water will be available in each room (replaced on check out). Bathroom drains will be disinfected after each departure.

Our staff will wear the recommended PPE while servicing empty rooms. Following a deep clean, the room will be sealed awaiting guest check-in. We recommend that guests bring their own PPE with them – if you have arrived without and require a face mask please ask one of our front of house team. Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the hotel during your stay.

Under Scottish Tourism guidelines your room will not be serviced during your stay. On request we can replace towels and other sundries. These will be left outside your guest room by arrangement.

The Restaurant

We have taken time and care to lay out our restaurant seating in line with the current social distancing guidelines. We will have set times for guests to dine and we will always escort you and your guests to your allocated table, ensuring social distancing is adhered to. Please note that we will only be accepting guests into the restaurant who have made an advance booking with us.

We are giving our guests options as to how they make their menu selection. You can pre-order via email from the up to date menu from our website or alternatively, we will provide menus in the restaurant and bar, which are sanitised after you.

All high contact areas will be sanitised regularly, and tables and chairs will be deep cleaned after each guest use. All card machines will be sanitised after each guest use, likewise pens, condiments and all other reusable guest contact items.

Our staff will wear gloves when resetting tables and for hygiene purposes we will use disposable paper napkins. All crockery will be sanitised in our dishwashers prior to use and our dishwashers will be deep cleaned after each meal service.

We will have a reservation system in place in order to maintain social distancing during breakfast service. Within your arrival pack, you will find a breakfast menu and instructions on how to reserve and order your breakfast. Please ensure that this is placed before 9pm the night before.

Public Spaces and Communal Areas

The frequency of cleaning has increased in all our public areas with emphasis on high contact surfaces and common touch points. We are now using strong antimicrobial cleaning equipment and hand sanitisers which are highly effective at killing viruses and bacteria. At check-in please follow signage and floor markings to ensure physical distancing.

Staff Training

All our staff will have received training on Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

  • Policies – our staff understand the need for strict adherence to government recommended practices in relation to hygiene, hotel cleanliness and physical distancing.
  • Hand Hygiene – our team understand the need for frequent and thorough handwashing.
  • PPE – our team have been provided with the requisite PPE. Which will be monitored and maintained daily.
  • Physical Distancing - the most up-to-date government guidelines on social distancing will be adhered to by all our staff.
  • Uniforms – uniforms will be washed in line with clinical guidelines.


Following our risk assessment, we identified a need to have fewer Chefs in the kitchen in order to maintain social distancing. Our menus have been creatively reconfigured accordingly and you can still expect an exceptional meal experience.

Food preparation stations will be sanitised hourly and the kitchen will be deep cleaned and sanitised at least once a day. Our Chefs will wear recommended PPE while preparing your food and will work at specific stations and use their own utensils. Where sharing of equipment is required these will be sanitised after each use.

We will continue to follow strict guidelines with regards to Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
